Rain comes from a sky-god and is obtained by the Chief or tribal Rainmaker through intervention of the tribal ancestors. Often water animals are sacrificed on these fires. Natural and local spirits are available for communication. Not all are tribal ancestors but some more shadowy characters are believed to exist. Sacred snake and animal spirits may be called upon to assist in the rain-making.
